Tas Gas Networks Summer Safety Message

As we all start to take advantage of the beautiful summer weather and we’re spending more time outdoors, we would love you to take a short moment to inspect your gas meter and review our safety reminders below to help ensure your meter is compliant, accessible, and is functioning correctly.

  • Please clear any overgrown vegetation, grass, trees and weeds in close vicinity to the gas meter, which may be obstructing gas ventilation. This is a fire hazard.
  • Please maintain a clear path and avoid blocking the meter with walls, decks or fencing.
  • Careful with that lawnmower!! Hitting or bumping your natural gas meter can damage the meter

There have already been a lot of snake sightings this year, so please provide clear access to your meter so that our meter readers can assess for these and other dangers before accessing your meter.

Technicians and meter readers must be able to easily access your gas meter to obtain actual reads for billing, to perform periodic safety checks and routine maintenance, as well as manage critical tasks in the unlikely event of an emergency.

If you require any further information, please contact your natural gas retailer.

Thank You Sincerely

Tas Gas Networks Team
